This classic but innovative urban look consisting of a lightweight sweatshirt under any sport coat or blazer is a great look for any occasion. Just like the Chuck Taylor shoes, this attire can transform an outfit, that was originally much to formal for the occasion, to a look that that is more subtle and urban looking but still holds the dressed up factor at the same time. The combinations are unlimited with different colored jackets and hooded sweatshirts as well as all the different material weights and textures. Many variations can work, some better under certain circumstances than others, but you can never go wrong with a black on black and grey on grey. One detail that does make a difference is the type of sweatshirt. Make sure you are wearing a zip up sweatshirt when going the formal route because this allows you to keep it open or partially unzipped, revealing the dress shirt and tie or just your favorite button-down woven.
