DJ Jonny Law (a.k.a. John Shultz) is now the official sound of Epic Brand. ABOUT DJ JONNY LAW:

Since the late 80s and early 90s, EDM has been a staple in John’s life. He was first exposed to EDM by going to a rave on a whim in the DC area. Once he was exposed to Junior Vasquez, Danny Tenaglia, and Josh Wink, it was soon after that EDM became the love of his life.

John attended club after club and rave after rave, and still couldn’t get enough. “I couldn’t believe that this many people could pack into one space and feel so many different emotions from listening to the same track. “ In the 90s, he hit the Philly dance scene with force and made sure he attended all the hottest events and immersed himself in different types of EDM. Drum and bass was his first love.

He was a fixture at 611 Records every weekend buying everything he could get his hands on, asking all kinds of silly questions regarding mixing and DJing. He thanks the people at 611 for helping a suburban kid understand the city life and culture. “I remember going into 611 and having all the big boys in the Philly scene really helping me out. From Mike Panic to Sean Michaels to Nigel Richards, they really made an outside guy feel welcomed.” But when John started going to Shampoo and Evolution, that’s when things got REALLY heavy. “I can credit Adrock and Rob Lee for really getting me pulled in. Rob Lee completely changed the way I thought about house music and the way he played Saturday nights was second to none in Philly.“

Taking trips to NYC almost every weekend for Junior-Verse, The Tunnel, the Sound Factory and many other places, hooked John. To this day, John is still in love with house music and we don’t see a divorce ANY time soon. Look out for DJ Jonny Law in 2012, as it should be a HUGE year for his production work and the world of DJ’s in general.

Yes, Epic Brand will soon be a popular must have clothing brand but we want to go farther than that. Epic Brand wants to promote a lifestyle that not only includes vintage urban clothing with a modern twist but objects that have a similar taste that aren't clothes. These objects can be canvas paintings, pottery, other home decor and the list goes on. The Roots of Epic Brand

Epic Brand is based out of Manayunk, which is a town in the northwestern section of the city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Manayunk has an epic nightlife full of restless young professionals and college students. The town's Main Street is full of restaurants, bars and specialty stores with stylish boutiques. Cobblestone streets, distinct architecture and hilly terrain are some of the towns most eclectic features.

Manayunk has a rich history dating back to 1686 with dated papers between William Penn and the Lenape Indians for the plot of land. The Lenape referred to the land as “Manaiung,” since it is located on the banks of the Schuylkill River. Ironically, “Manaiung” literally translates to “place to drink,” which was later adopted as the town’s name.

The style of the students from the six or so surrounding colleges and universities and young professionals has heavily influenced the brand as well as vice versa. The town, in general, is known for it’s textile and fashion history since Main Street was the home of a collection of textile mills along the Schuylkill River in the 1970’s. Many of the old textile mills have been converted into modern day industrial lofts, condos, bars and restaurants.

Philadelphia University, formerly known as the Philadelphia School of Textiles, is one of the closest universities, sitting right outside of Manayunk, and has one of the strongest set of fashion programs in the country. A Philadelphia University alumni founded Epic Brand with the help of fellow alumni and students. Epic Brand is not your typical clothing brand, it is a lifestyle.

New Urban Clothing Brands

In the past two years, many urban clothing designers have emerged. These styles are not necessarily urban in a "hip-hop" means, but more so a city and street style for metropolitan hipsters looking to wear he latest trends. Many of these brands have tried to successfully create a brand that could compete with the mass produced mall brands but not many have survived.

Along with the few successful clothing brands, there have also been companies that have opened stores, created websites or have done both in order to help promote these up and coming clothing brands. Since two of Epic Brand's main visions consist of opening a store front and having one of the most visited clothing brand websites, this may be an option for Epic Brand down the road. Once Epic Brand has a solid product base of men's and women's premium denim and designer graphic tees, their website will be very popular and would enjoy giving new clothing companies the chance to put their merchandise online so stay tuned.
